TWO FINGER COMBINATION EXERCISES
The purpose of these exercises is to develop an evenness of attack, consistency of tone, and correct note
placement within subdivisions of the beat.
Each finger should work with a smooth even attack, hammering down firmly on the string slightly behind the fret.
When the 4th finger is used, all the others should be down as well. When the 3rd finger is used, 1 and 2 should be held down simultaneously.
There are six combinations of two fingers:
| 1 - 2 |
1 - 3 |
1 - 4 |
| 2 - 3 |
2 - 4 |
3 - 4 |
Practice these and succeeding exercises with an electronic metronome in order to develop good time and even articulation. To start set it about 50-60 BPM and gradually increase the tempo as the exercise is mastered without mistakes.
